Notes Maggie Smith Appreciation PostI feel like Maggie Smith is has gotten shafted in the series
During the 6th movie, Maggie Smith was suffering from Breast Cancer. She was wearing a wig while filming Half-blood Prince.
Right after filming each scene she had shot, she had to quickly sit back down because she was so tired from the chemotherapy. She was going to fucking chemotherapy while filming Harry Potter.
She told reporters that even if she did die, she was going to make damn well sure that she’ll “finish Harry Potter if it’s the last thing [she does]”
Her character is also badass.
People fail to see McGonagall as a main character because she’s not a student nor does she actively participate in Harry’s life. But she basically keeps the school from falling apart when it’s overrun by evildoers and keep the students in line while understanding that the school is supposed to be fun. She is first and foremost there for her students before anyone else. She is a teacher because she loves teaching.
She’s one badass mother fucking character and actress. And do you know what? I’m not going to lie, Snape, Harry, Ron, Hermione, Hagrid, almost none of the characters were what I imagined them to be in my head. The only people that I feel got the characters PERFECTLY right were Maggie Smith and Richard Harris.
